AAU Cross Country National Championship

Congratulations to Striders Participating in the South Regional Championship
Congratulations to Maysen and Karsen Fletcher for participating in the Eastbay (formerly Footlocker) Cross Country South Regional Meet in Charlotte, NC, November 27, 2021. Maysen placed 6th in 11-12 girls, winning All-American status with a time of 11:23.Congratulations to Dianna Goodman!
Congratulations to Capital City Strider Dianna Goodman who placed 5th in the Women 17-18 Division of Pole Vault in Humble, TX on August 7 at the 2021 AAU National Championships. She vaulted 3.65m (11’-11.75”). She previously placed 4th in the
2021 USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships held July 26-August 1 in Jacksonville FL, vaulting 3.70 meters (12’ 01.50“)! Capital City Striders are very proud of her!

CCS Ranked 22/111 in Clubs for the USATF 2021 Masters outdoor Championships!
The USATF 2021 Masters Outdoors Championships was held in Ames, IA July 22-25. In W70-74, CCS won 2 gold (Pentathlon and PV), 2 silver (Triple Jump and Long Hurdles), 5 Bronze (Short Hurdles, Weight Throw, Shot Put, High Jump, and Discus) one 4th (Hammer Throw) and one 5th (Javelin) to place 22nd among 111 Clubs participating.
2020
CCS Ranked 22/111 in Clubs for the USATF 2021 Masters outdoor Championships!
The USATF 2021 Masters Outdoors Championships was held in Ames, IA July 22-25. Masters CCS Member Completes in 2 Summer Virtual Meets
Adult Strider Barbara Warren competed in the July 18-August 2 World Masters Virtual Meet (results at Mastersrankings.com) and the USATF Masters Summer Virtual Challenge (August 3-17) (results at Athletic.net). Barbara Warren competed in 15 events plus a heptathlon and a throws pentathlon in July in the 2020 Worldwide Virtual Masters Challenge, winning 4 first places (80H, 200H, PV, and heptathlon, with 2783 for her first outdoor heptathlon) and four third places (HJ, LJ, TJ, super weight throw). In early August she competed in 13 events for the 2020 USATF Masters Virtual Summer Challenge, (winning 4 first places, 7 second places and 2 third places). She was honored to receive 8th among women all ages in the “best of the best from the USATF Masters Virtual Summer Challenge presented by Toyota USA” for AthleticNET in their Top Ten Countdown. She was honored for her (W70-74) triple jump of 6.09m.
Virginia Showcase AAU Youth Championship Lynchburg, VA
Congratulations are due to the Striders who competed and performed at their best at this January 19, 2020 meet (see banner pictures above). Shannon Adkins (Girls 13) was first in the 800 with a time of 2:33.66. She was 2nd in the 1500 (5:22.00). Baylee Adkins (Girls 17) was 2nd in the 800 (2:33.37) and 3rd in the 1500 (5:20.21). Allison Germann (Girls 16) finished 3rd in the 55 m dash (7.55), 4th in the 200 (26.66) and 2nd in the Long Jump (16’ 10”). Dianna Goodman finished first in Pole Vault with a height of 10’ 6”. Trevor Carson finished 5th in the 800 (2:05.00), 13th in the 1500 (4.30). Some of the events had over 250 competitors, so our Striders results were fantastic, scoring 52 points!
Capital City Striders in NC United Indoor T&F Classic
Four Striders competed in the NC Indoor United T&F Classic on January 4, 2020 in Winston Salem. Shannon Adkins placed 2nd for Girls 13-14 for the 800 meter run with a time of 2:36.58. She also competed in the 200 m dash and 400 m run. Baylee Adkins placed 3rd in the 800 m run for Girls in High School with a time of 2:29.52. She also ran the 200 m dash and 400 m run. Colin Adkins placed 5th in the 800 for Boys 11-12 with a time of 3:19.38. He also competed in the 400 m run. Trevor Carson, a senior, placed in the upper ranks of the 800 and the mile for Boys in High School..

AAU Championship Meet
Congratulations to all who participated in the National AAU championship meet July 24 - August 3, 2019 in North Carolina! Dianna Goodman placed 7th in Pole Vault for Women 17-18 (3.48m or 11’05.00"). Roman Kellum placed 9th in High Jump for Boys 13 (1.50m or 4’11.00”). Kayden Patterson (in the 400 for 9 Boys) got a time of 1:10.46. Maysen Fletcher competed for 10 Girls in both the 800 (2:48.48) and the 1500 (5:43.94). For 17-18 Men, Trevor Carson ran 53.38 in the 400 and 2:01.79 in the 800. Jessica Reynolds ran 1:27.80 for 17-18 Women in the 400 Hurdles.
Congratulations to all Striders who participated in the Region 5 Championships
The top 5 in each event (including 4 CapitalCity Striders) at the Region 5 Championships July 6th & 7th at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky qualified for the USATF National Junior Olympic Championships July 22nd - July 28th in Sacramento, California. Dianna Goodman placed 1st in women 17-18 pole vault (3.30m). Roman Kellum places 2nd in boys 13-14 high jump (1.45m). Anthony Jarrell placed 3rd for 17-18 men in both the 800 (2:49.74) and 1500 meter (5:46.79) runs. Payton Henrich placed 4th for boys 8 & under in both the 200 meter dash (37.05) and the long jump (2.59m), and 7th in the 400 meter dash (1:28.72). For 11-12 girls, Breanna Henrich placed 7th in the long jump (3.16m), 8th in the 400 meter dash (1:19.91), and 13 in the 100 meter dash (16.06). Nikolaus VonWuitten placed 8th for boys 11-12 in the 800 meter run (3:00.57) and 13th in the 400 meter dash (1:16.82).
Congratulations to our Striders who qualified in the Region 4 Qualifier for the National AAU Meet!
Eight Striders qualified at the Ohio Region 4 AAU Qualifier Meet to participate in the AAU Junior Olympics at NC AT&T University in Greensboro, NC July 27-August 3. Kayden Patterson placed 6th in the 9 year old boys 400 with a time of 1:11.71. Maysen Fletcher placed 5th in the 10 year old girls 800 meter run with a time of 2:56.93 and 3rd in the 1500 (5:43.53). Roman Kellum placed 1st in the high jump for 13 year old boys with a height of 4-08.00. Candace Morris qualified in four events for 14 year old girls: 2nd in the 100 meter dash (12.72); 3rd in the 200 (25.95); 2nd in the 400 (1:00.89); and 2nd in the long jump (16-02.00). Trevor Carson placed 4th for 17-18 year old boys in the 400 (50.97) and 2nd in the 800 (1:59.92). Jessica Reynolds placed 6th in the 400 meter hurdles for 17-18 year old girls with a time of 1:16.02. Dianna Goodman placed 1st in the girls’ 17-18 pole vault with 11-00.00. Also for 17-18 year old girls, Sami Saunders placed 2nd in the high jump (5-00.00). Two Capital City Striders competed on February 9 in Columbus, OH in the Ohio State High School Indoor Qualifier #4. Bruce Williams placed 4th in the 60 m dash with a time of 7.17. Trevor Carson placed 6th in the 800 m run with a time of 2:04.95, and 7th in the 1600 m run with a time of 4:36.12. Congratulations to both!
Three Capital City Striders competed in The VA Showcase Presented By The US Air Force at Liberty University Indoor Track Complex in Lynchburg, VA on January 18-20. On Sunday in the AAU finals, Baylee Adkins (Girls 17-18) won gold for the 800 with a time of 2:19.62, and placed eighth in the 400 with a time of 1:01.18. Shannon Adkins (Girls 12) won gold in the 1500 (5:28.01) and bronze in the 800 (2:43.31). Trevor Carson (Boys 17-18) was 7th in the 1500 (4:23.33) and 9th for the 800 (2:05.53). Please congratulate these three striders when you see them!
At the Marietta College High School Track Meet January 13, Bruce Williams and Baylee Adkins won three first places for the Capital City Striders. Bruce placed 1st in the 55 dash with a time of 6.83 seconds. Baylee placed 1st in the 400 dash with a time of 65.6 seconds, and Baylee also placed 1st in the 200 dash with a time of 28 seconds.
Congratulations to all the Striders who performed in the 2019 Kanawha County Middle School and WV State Track and Field Championships!
Erica Hegele of Shady Springs High School placed first for girls AA in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles and fourth in the long jump. Sona Magassouba of Capital High School placed first for girls AAA in the high jump. Baylee Adkins of Winfield High School plaid first in the girls AA 800m run, third in the 400 meter dash. Olivia Miller of Ripley High School placed first in girls AAA pole vault. Dianna Goodman of Winfield High School won the pole vault for girls AA schools. Samantha Saunders of Point Pleasant High School won high jump for girls AA schools. Jessica Reynolds from Buffalo High school placed ninth in the 100m hurdles for girls in A schools.
For the Kanawha County Middle School Championships, Candace Morris of Stonewall Jackson Middle school placed first in the 100, 200 and 400 meter dashes and in the long jump. Gabbie Caster of Charleston Catholic Middle School won the1600 run. Roman Kellum placed fourth in the high jump.
National Combined Events Championship
Adult Strider Barbara Warren won Gold for Women 70-74 in the Decathlon with 3788 points in the National Combined Events Championship in Waukesha, WI June 8-9, 2019. She still holds the US record for women 70-74 from 2017 (4921 points). At the National Senior Games in Albuquerque, NM June 16-21, she placed (the first 8 place with medals or ribbons) in 9 of 15 T&F events, winning 2 Bronze medals (shot put and triple jump) and one Silver medal (pole vault).
2018
Trevor Carson won the All American Award at the National AAU Championship Meet in Knoxville, Tennessee on December 1, 2018 (shown on the right, receiving his 8th place award in the top picture for the mens 17-18 5K with a time of 18:52.37). Also participating in the National Championships were Edward and Lucas Passmore (boy’s 7-8, 2K), Jeremy Siders (men’s 13-14, 4K), and Kenna Abshire (women’s 11-12, 3K).
