The annual membership fee for the 2019 Fiscal Year (September 1, 2019-August 31, 2020) is $100.00 per athlete (covering Indoor, Outdoor, and Cross Country seasons). The annual membership includes individual memberships in USATF and AAU, plus a Strider T-Shirt, insurance and entry fees for the Strider Invitational. Old uniforms items are available, and new ones may be purchased. The USATF membership period is January 1 through December 31. AAU membership is September 1 through August 31 of the following year, corresponding to the CCS Fiscal year. Athletes are encouraged to pay their dues at the beginning of the Fiscal Year every year (in September). An athlete paying dues in September of one year will have an active membership in USATF through December of the following year. Sign-ups for new members are never closed and we welcome new members throughout the year.
Please show up at a practice with your membership form (download from links on this page) and birth certificate, or contact Coach Chip Ferrell if you (or people you know) want to join. Coach Ferrell may be contacted at 304-766-9478 (home), 304-552-5306 (cell) or by e-mail at email@example.com.
The Capital City Striders (CCS) welcomes new members of all ages from 4 to 100! We have a great training program, and happily accept students or adults with no experience. Download the CCS Membership form from the link below and join the Striders! Bring your membership form and a copy of your birth certificate to a Saturday practice 11 am - 1 pm at the Kanawha City Recreation Center (every Saturday until the outdoor practices begin April 1, then in the late afternoon to Laidley Field).
We provide coaching and training for 2 hours once a week indoors during the winter and two hours for five days a week outdoors (excluding field and meet conflicts) starting April 1 of every year. In addition to the 7-9 meets we organize and run locally, we take our Youth athletes to additional regional and national meets outside of WV. Meets occur all year. Outdoor Track and Field meets are held from April until September, then Cross Country meets start in the Fall, and Indoor Track and Field meets run November through March.
Many of our Striders succeed to win Regional, National, and All-American Awards! Many receive support to Colleges and Universities!
Any athlete participating in High School or Middle School Track and Field programs may come out and practice with the team, however please obtain approval of your school coach for this CCS training. High School students can not compete on the CCS team until after their competition season is complete. Registration for High School athletes will be the first Monday after the final school competition.
